Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all because it spans all ethnic and religious backgrounds. It’s a time when we can come together in gratitude. On Thanksgiving Day, we can take a breath and step back from the marathon of life to acknowledge all of our individual blessings and gifts.
If this note finds you in a time of crisis, take solace in believing that this too shall pass. Bad things seem to unexpectedly appear in our lives, but if you think about it, so do the really good things as well. If you’re facing a particularly difficult situation, know that it can all turn on dime tomorrow and suddenly a resolution presents itself. When you’re laid low, it’s particularly important to stop and be thankful. Refocusing on the positives can lift your spirit and do wonders for your attitude.
Likewise, if this day finds you in a state of abundance, it’s easy to become immersed in your success and take it all for granted. Pause and be thankful that you have the talents and opportunity to capitalize on them. Being thankful for your blessings can rebalance your perspective by strengthening your humility.
As for me, I also take time to give thanks to Almighty God for all the wonders of life, for all the gifts I have, and for the strength to overcome adversity when I hit those low spots.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Now enjoy your family, friends, turkey, pie, and of course, football!
